Outgoing PA State Police Commissioner Miller caught in speeding controversy
Posted July 30, 2008 -- Papers filed in a federal lawsuit contend that Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Jeffrey Miller and his state police driver were pulled over for speeding on the Pennsylvania turnpike in late 2007.
Col. Miller and his driver were stopped by a third state trooper.
Despite driving at an excessive, and unsafe, rate of speed, Col. Miller's driver was not ticketed.
Various Pennsylvania State Police procedures were allegedly violated in the incident, court papers contend. Col. Miller's state police driver is reported to have later filed a complaint against himself over the incident.
The allegations recently surfaced in a federal lawsuit involving the Pennsylvania state police. Earlier in his term, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was also caught speeding on the turnpike.
Col. Miller announced his resignation from the state police in early July.
